At Wuntira Agri Foundation, our piloted project last year, 2024, called “Women Smallholder Farmers Our Food Security.”

This pilot project #prefinanced 70 female youth and 30 adult women #rural #smallholder #farmers of Winitira Shea and Farmer cooperative, located in the Karaga district. It cushioned them to afford some basic farm inputs, #tractor services, and/or carter for their pressing individual business investment needs.

Our team visited the 100 #beneficiaries and recovered the #investments in commodity form, and it was encouraging, even though 13 beneficiaries defaulted payments. However, we are promised to recover it after this year’s harvest.

The 13 defaults are pardonable, even though they will be recovered. All the defaults are caused by the unusual #rain pattern in 2024, which affected farmers across the country, especially farmers in the northern belts.

Nonetheless, considering the number of beneficiaries, the Wuntira Agri Foundation is not discouraged by the minor percentage of defaults encountered. Instead, we are motivated to continue with the project this year, 2025, but this time, with a more diligent and meticulous approach.

As the Wuntira Agri Foundation thrives in its mission of aiding rural women and youth smallholder farmers with financial support for their farming practices, we ask for partnerships and collaborations with private and public organizations.
